Solving Rubik’s cube is really fun and exciting as well when you know the ways of solving it. It can be equally frustrating on the other side if you don’t know the steps clearly.

There are a number of ways of solving a Rubik’s cube that people use around the world. You can even make one of your own by understanding its fundamentals and practicing it again and again.

Solving a Rubik’s Cube

You can easily solve a Rubik’s cube by following some simple steps shown below. And there upon increase your speed and fluency by practicing these steps frequently.

Before moving onto the steps, let’s get a quick insight to the moving and technique of solving Rubik’s cube.

As you already know, a Rubik’s cube has 6 faces each having its own color. And a total of 36 blocks, combined in rows and columns along the three dimensional structure that we move either left or down or  right or up.

The regular movement of blocks along the column and rows is indicated by five alphabets F, R, U, L, and D Surface Area

Each alphabet is associated with a specific movement of the blocks in Rubik’s cube.

Clockwise movement

F indicates the movement of the whole front cluster towards the right side in clockwise motion.

R indicates the movement of the whole right side cluster towards the upper direction in clockwise motion.

U indicates the movement of the whole upper side cluster towards the left side in clockwise motion.

L indicates the movement of the whole left side cluster towards the down side in clockwise motion.

D indicates the movement of the whole down side cluster towards the right side in clockwise motion.

Counter Clockwise movement

Here the movement of the clusters are opposite to their movement in clockwise movement respectively.

And the five movements(alphabets) are referred to with apostrophe signs associated with their respective alphabets in Clockwise movement.

They are represented as F’, R’, U’,L’, and D’.

Let’s move on to the steps for solving Rubiks Cube.

1. Forming a white Cross

For solving the Rubik’s Cube from this position, you need to follow the order of motion shown below to move on to the next step. You have to carefully follow the exact movement in a similar manner to reach the desired result in each P, you need to rotate the front section or cluster in F’ direction, towards the left side in counter clockwise motion.

Top Layer disorder

Now replace the white block at front top middle with the green block at the upper front middle, follow the movement of the cube:

First, you need to rotate the front section or cluster in F’ direction, towards the left side in counter clockwise motion.

Rotate the right cluster or section in R’ direction, towards the down side in counter clockwise motion.

Rotate the down cluster in the D’ direction, towards the left side in Counter clockwise motion.

Rotate the right side cluster in the R direction, towards the up side in Clockwise motion.

Rotate the front section in the F direction, towards the right side in Clockwise motion two times.

Or just follow the movement,

F’  R’  D’  R  F2

Middle layer disorder

For replacing the white block at front middle right with the green block at the right middle front, follow the movement of the cube,

R’  D’  R  F2

Bottom layer disorder

For replacing the white block at front bottom center with the green block at bottom front middle, follow the movement of the cube,

F’  R’  D’  R  F2

2. Forming the white face

The other steps involve fixing the white corner faces for completing the whole white section.

If your remaining white face is situated on the bottom right corner of your front section. Then follow the movement of the step given to complete the white face.

You need to follow the movement,

F   D    F’.

By following the above instructions, the white face or section of the Rubik’s cube will be completed.

If your remaining white face is situated on the right front middle of your right section. Then follow the movement of the step given to complete the white face.

R’   D’  R

If your remaining white face is situated on the bottom right corner of your back section. Then follow the movement of the step given to complete the white face.

R’  D2  R  D R’  D’  R

3. Forming the second layer

In this step we will complete the process of forming the second layer of Rubik’s cube. Here we will use the two sets of movements, Right and Left. In order to place the up front edge piece from the top layer to the middle one. Without disturbing the formed white section.

First, follow the right movements accurately from the given position.

U’  L’  U  L U  F  U’  F’

Follow the left movements accurately after processing the right movements.

U  R  U’  R’  U’  F’  U   F

4. Forming the yellow cross

In this step, we will form the yellow cross on the top, solving the last layer of our cube .

There are four possibilities of getting a yellow block on the top section. As given below:

Here is the set of movements that you have to apply on the basis of the position of the yellow block on the top face.

F   R  U  R’  U’  F’

You have to apply the above set three times in cas a dot appears on the top.

You have to follow the set twice in case a L appears on the top.

You have to follow the set just once in a straight line that appears on the top.

5. Adjusting Yellow Edges

The next step involves switching the yellow edge pieces, so as to match the colors in side faces.

For that follow the movement,

R U R’ U R U2 R’ U

6. Leaving Yellow Corners

We only leave the corner yellow blocks, and solve the other whole Rubik’s cube. As to be solved in the other step.

Move a block from the right place to the top right corner. And follow the movement given below to proceed.

U R’ U’ L’  U R’ U’ L’

Follow the instruction twice to inverse the rotation of the piece. If it does not show any result, repeat the process again just once fif a better result.

7. Solving the cube

Hereby all the pieces are in their actual position except the top corner blocks inside and top section.

Follow the given movement by holding the block at top right corner for two or four times until it gets sorted.

R’ D’ R D

Therein, Move another unfixed yellow block to the top right corner position. And follow the same movement again until you find the fix.
